Job Description

Pride Health is seeking a Histotechnologist II for a contract role in Charleston, SC. This position involves performing routine and specialized histology procedures, maintaining laboratory instruments, ensuring quality control, and contributing to a safe and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized histology procedures per established protocols.
• Ensure specimen integrity and accurate patient identification.
• Conduct quality assurance tests and troubleshoot any issues.
• Operate and maintain histology instruments, ensuring optimal performance.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
• Understand the operation and theory behind laboratory instruments.
• Utilize AP LIS/STAR systems for ordering, receiving, and canceling tests.
• Review pending lists and follow up on incomplete tests.
• Document all actions accurately, maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Communicate with supervisors, pathologists, and team members in a clear and timely manner.
• Assist physicians, nurses, and patients with laboratory-related inquiries.
• Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Adhere to laboratory and hospital safety policies and procedures.
• Report safety concerns and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
• Complete mandatory and continuing education requirements.

Qualifications

• Education and Certification:
• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• ASCP-certified Histotechnologist (HT) (required).
• Skills and Experience:
• Experience with microtomy, embedding, and special stains (IHC experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of histology instrumentation and techniques.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Physical Requirements:
• Frequent standing, walking, and bending.
• Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious materials.
• Primary duties include microtomy, special stains, and embedding.
• Training on EPIC and laboratory-specific software will be provided.
• The ideal candidate is a team player with a commitment to high-quality results.

Additional Information:

• Location: Charleston, SC 29401
• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 4:00 AM - 12:30 PM
• Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
• Pay Rate: $50 - $54/hour

*Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
