Social Cohesion: Amsterdam Police Seeks Cooperation with Nigerian Community

On 28 April 2023, the Nigerian community in Amsterdam South-East engaged in a dialogue meeting with the Amsterdam Police unit and the City Council. The meeting was described as a starting point on a mission that seeks to achieve a path for sustainable unity, trust and understanding between the parties. The meeting was attended by the leaders of the various Nigeria’s ethnic associations, professionals, and businesses.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to reflect on a wide-range pf issues affecting relationship between the government agencies and the community of Nigerian migrants, especially those living in the South East of Amsterdam.

The question-and-answer session of dialogue meeting captured matters of trust, discriminatory treatment, non-inclusion of Nigerians in government services and in the processes of policy-making.
