Nigeria Reverts to Colonial National Anthem
Post By | June 4, 2024
The current Nigerian regime has reverted to the national anthem handed to the country by the colonial masters before its independence in 1960. This move has provoked angry questions from within and outside the country.
Many view this regression as the fulfillment of a fraternal political agreement with Western imperial powers, who have remained silent on the decay of democratic values in Nigeria.
While Africans are calling for continental independence, Nigeria has shown its lack of will to lead the continent out of the grip of exploiters. Countries such as the Republic of Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Senegal are gaining praise from youths across all African countries for deciding not to wait for the leadership of a troubled Nigeria but for uniting in the task of pushing back against the protracted imperialist exploitation of the continent.
How can a nation drop an anthem written by one of its own best to revert to a colonial one that was abandoned over 46 years ago?
