The Federal Government has announced the reinstatement of the suspended social investment program. Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has introduced a new initiative aimed at providing direct payments to 75 million struggling Nigerians across 50 million vulnerable households.

While the minister acknowledged past issues of fraud within the scheme, he asserted that the cash transfer program has been overhauled to address these concerns. However, there is widespread skepticism among Nigerians. Many believe that the billions allocated for this purpose will merely enrich corrupt political elites, leaving the situation of the poor unchanged. Critics view this move as a sign of the regime’s inability to find effective solutions to the country’s problems.
