Job Description

The ideal candidate is responsible for developing and implementing a supply strategy that delivers the lowest total cost, reduces inventory, and maximizes customer satisfaction through world class service.

JOB FUNCTION :

Responsible for working with the department supervisors and manufacturing manager to coordinate the production scheduling and material deliveries in order to meet the customers’ requirements.

Strategic Planning & Operations Oversight

  • Lead and manage strategic and tactical activities related to material requirements planning (MRP), inventory control, and production planning in alignment with customer demand and Scherdel’s operational goals.
  • Develop and implement best practices in inventory forecasting, material control, and capacity planning to optimize resource allocation and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee plantwide capacity planning utilizing Scherdel systems, ensuring that committed capacities align with customer requirements; initiate corrective actions with cross-functional teams when deviations occur.

Vendor & Resource Management

  • Collaborate with the purchasing department to develop and oversee procurement processes, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality-compliant vendor deliveries.
  • Establish and nurture long-term supplier partnerships to strengthen supply chain resilience and reduce risk.

Customer & Demand Management

  • Enter, monitor, and analyze customer demand (including discrete, non-discrete, and EDI orders), sales forecasts, and historical usage trends; communicate findings to senior leadership.
  • Ensure customer requirements are met—including packaging, system specifications, and returnable handling—and strategically negotiate alternative solutions when challenges arise.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for high-level customer interactions; maintain consistent communication through emails, phone calls, meetings, and platform monitoring (e.g., Covisint, SupplyOn).

Inventory & Quality Assurance

  • Define and control inventory levels by conducting cycle counts, reconciling physical inventory with system data, and resolving unplanned issues to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives in inventory management to minimize waste and increase process efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to Scherdel's and customer-specific quality and environmental system requirements, supporting audits and corrective action processes in collaboration with the quality management team.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Plan, organize, and manage the work of subordinate staff to align execution with organizational standards and production goals.
  • Mentor the production planning team and enhance interdepartmental collaboration with production supervisors and external stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in evaluating and implementing economic strategies that enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with all corporate policies, procedures, legal regulations, and internal/external quality and environmental standards across the supply chain function.
  • Champion the continuous improvement of quality and environmental systems in coordination with Scherdel’s quality management team.

FUNCTION REQUIREMENTS :

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Required

8-10 years of supply chain or logistics Management experience preferred.
