Responsibilities:
Lead cross-functional internal teams to optimize commercial performance and value for assigned assets and the broader generation fleet.
Coordinate with internal experts and external stakeholders (e.g., legal, finance, regulators, suppliers, and off-takers) to drive revenue, reduce costs and risks, and identify value-enhancing opportunities.
Negotiate key commercial agreements, including PPAs, REC contracts, and long-term service agreements.
Manage relationships with external partners independently, while keeping internal stakeholders informed and aligned.
Monitor market trends and assess risks/opportunities, leading strategy development and stakeholder coordination to respond effectively.
Support facility managers on operational and investment decisions through cost-benefit analysis and strategic recommendations.
Act as a primary point of contact for resolving commercial disputes and partner issues.
Lead reporting on commercial activities, challenges, and initiatives in stakeholder meetings.
Ensure compliance with all commercial agreements, maintaining a deep understanding of relevant contracts and market dynamics.
Drive completion of special projects and initiatives, both asset-specific and fleet-wide.
Oversee commercial reporting and partner management activities.
Contribute to evaluating potential acquisitions and development opportunities alongside Business Development teams.
Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of experience in operations, commercial strategy, engineering, business development, or financial/analytical roles-ideally within the deregulated power sector or a related industry.
Strong understanding of power markets, generation, marketing, regulatory frameworks, and commercial agreements (e.g., PPAs, transmission, and commodity contracts).
Experience with tax-equity structures for renewable energy projects is a significant advantage.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Commerce, or Economics; a Master's degree (completed or in progress) is a plus.
Professional certifications or designations are considered an asset.
In-depth knowledge of power markets, electricity generation, and regional plant operations.
Proven experience managing and negotiating complex legal and commercial agreements.
Strong financial acumen, with the ability to analyze financial statements, build budgets and forecasts, and develop asset earnings profiles.
Skilled in reviewing and negotiating contracts.
Solid project management capabilities with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
