Job Description
We are currently seeking a Senior SQL Data Engineer for an exciting opportunity in Jacksonville, FL! This is a hybrid position, offering the flexibility to work both onsite (2-3 days per week) and remotely. Initially a contract role running through April 2025, there is strong potential for extension or conversion to a full-time position. Key Responsibilities:
Develop, program, and code IT solutions using Python to support enterprise-level customer experience applications.
Document systems, conduct unit tests, perform peer code reviews, and maintain internally developed applications.
Evaluate and perform performance testing on purchased products.
Implement IT controls to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of applications and the data processed by them.
Contribute to system design, coding, testing, and change management procedures.
Work with various databases, including SQL, MySQL, Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, dBase, MS Access, etc.
Design and develop RESTful APIs using Python, ensuring a robust and scalable system architecture.
Process batch files, schedule batch processes, and manage data effectively.
Collaborate with the team to evaluate various libraries and technologies, ensuring they meet business and technical requirements.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience in unit testing, release procedures, and change management protocols.
Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
In-depth understanding of the systems development life cycle.
Extensive experience with SQL scripting/querying and advanced database management.
Expertise in Python programming and related libraries, especially for developing REST APIs and processing batch files.
Familiarity with UNIX/Linux shell scripting and PySpark, as well as working in a Hadoop environment.
Experience working with large data sets (millions of records) and performing data analysis.
Proficiency in using desktop applications like MS Suite and flowcharting tools such as Visio.
A methodical approach to evaluating technologies and libraries to meet business needs.
A genuine curiosity to learn and grow, with a strong desire to understand processes and data flow.
Educational and Professional Requirements:
A related Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of professional experience in technical design and coding within the IT industry.
Experience with UNIX/Linux shell scripting and advanced SQL.
Strong background in working with large-scale data sets and using PySpark in a Hadoop environment.
Technical curiosity and a proactive approach to learning new technologies and processes.
