Job Description

Solutions Engineer/Reservoir Engineer (SQL)- Onsite in Houston - 25% travel - Previous oil/gas industry experience needed. $100K to $140K max for salary range.

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Engineer to join our team and work with one of our Fortune 200 oil and gas clients located in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have a background in oil and gas.

As a Solutions Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing technical solutions that meet the specific needs of our clients’ oil and gas customers. You will work closely with the Reservoir and Production Departments to ensure that software specifications are accurately implemented.

This position requires the candidate to be on-site at our client's office in Houston, TX. Furthermore, the position entails an average of 25% travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare specifications for new applications, enhancements, modifications, and support issues.
  • Develop technical documentation and provide support to clients during implementation.
  • Understand business operations and suggest ways to optimize processes
  • Gathering requirements for new projects and enhancements for existing products working with the design to model and develop business processes.
  • Data analysis & Customer Support: Analyzing day-to-day production issues and identifying short term/long term solutions.
  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Tracking and appropriately escalating production issues; Understanding business and providing solutions and support
  • Testing and supporting the deployment of applications
  • Supporting application releases and change management functions and providing feedback to product teams to improve product offerings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering preferred, related field or relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical engineering with relevant work experience
  • 2-5 years of oil and gas experience is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to gather and document business requirements and develop system specification documents
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Proficiency in SQL, Spotfire, or Python is a plus.
  • Ideal candidate will be based in the clients' office in Downtown Houston.
