Senior Research Associate, Genetic Pharmacology

W2 Contract-to-Hire

Salary Range: $87,400 - $108,200 per year

Location: Redwood City, CA - Onsite Role

Job Summary:

As a Senior Research Associate specializing in cellular and molecular biology, you will support the generation and utilization of complex genetically engineered mouse model (GEMM)-derived organoid and cell systems to support small molecule drug development. You will closely partner with our internal Model Engineering Core team to contribute to hands-on model development projects involving organoid and cell line generation, genome engineering, molecular validation, and in vitro characterization of engineered cancer models.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Generate, organize, maintain, and characterize in vitro GEMM-derived tumor models.
• Isolate organoids from mouse tissues.
• Culturing, selection, and banking of organoid and cell lines
• Conduct genetic manipulation (CRISPR, shRNA, etc.) of cells involving viral delivery and nucleofection of DNA and RNA components.
• Run cellular assays (e.g., flow cytometry, FACS, proliferation, viability) in the presence or absence of anti-cancer agents.
• Execute molecular biology protocols (e.g., DNA/RNA/protein prep, PCR, qPCR, western blot, JESS)
• Sample management, organization, and inventory
• Data curation, entry, organization, analysis, and presentation
• Contribute to the broader application of genetically engineered models in small molecule drug development as part of multi-disciplinary research and development project teams.
• Develop and apply internal experimental protocols and produce detailed documentation of procedures and data that comply with internal standard operating procedures and other quality criteria.
• Communicate and collaborate closely within a fast-paced and highly cross-functional team.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• M.S. or B.S. in cancer biology, genetics, molecular biology, or a related field
• 5+ years of lab experience, knowledge of and extensive hands-on experience in tissue culture, and basic molecular biology techniques in a relevant field
• Experiences with multiple genetic manipulation modalities such as lentiviral, CRISPR, and RNAi
• Familiarity with mid-throughput experimental design and execution
• Experience with cell and molecular biology assay development
• Basic understanding of cancer biology, including major cancer types, genes, and signaling pathways and categories of preclinical cancer models
• Demonstrated experience in executing and interpreting data from lab experiments.
• Thrives in a collaborative team setting and is motivated to innovate and contribute in a high-energy, small company environment
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with organoid isolation, culturing, and manipulation is preferred
• Translational research experience is a plus.
