Job Title: Appraisal Reviewer

Department: Credit

Reports To: VP, Credit

FLSA Status: Exempt

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS : We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Non-QM Mortgage Appraisal Reviewer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing and assessing appraisal reports to ensure compliance with company policies, investor requirements, and applicable regulations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of our mortgage loan process by verifying that appraisals meet all necessary criteria and supporting the decision-making process for loan approvals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Review and analyze property appraisal reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies.
• Verify that the appraisal values align with loan guidelines, property types, and market conditions.
• Identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, or errors in appraisal reports and work with Brokers and AMCs resolve issues.
• Collaborate with underwriting and loan operations teams to ensure timely and accurate reviews of appraisal reports.
• Perform quality control on appraisals by ensuring proper use of comparable properties and accurate valuation methods.
• Review and verify appraisal reports to assess property condition, location, and market trends.
• Provide detailed feedback and documentation on appraisal reports, including justifications for approval or rejection.
• Stay current on industry regulations, market trends, and changes to guidelines.
• Assist in audits and reviews of completed appraisals for compliance with internal procedures and external regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Attention to detail and ability to detect errors or inconsistencies in appraisal reports.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
• Proficiency with mortgage loan processing software, appraisal review systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

EDUCATION :

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, real estate, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage appraisal review, mortgage underwriting, or related field.
• In-depth knowledge of Non-QM mortgage products and guidelines.
• Familiarity with appraisal standards, methods, and terminology, including USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice).
• Strong understanding of federal and state regulations related to mortgage lending, including RESPA, TILA, and FHA/VA guidelines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position is in an office setting with computer and general office equipment. The position requires the ability to move freely around within the department and other department locations
