Job Description

Overview

A Research Assistant I position is currently available in Dr. Andrew Mayer's laboratory at The Mind Research Network. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. Individuals with a bachelor's degree in psychology, or pursuing a degree in a related field are preferred. Those with experience and interest in neuroscience, clinical psychology, and/or neuroimaging are strongly encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant will have two primary duties. The first duty will be working on multiple federally-funded studies examining the biological basis of mild traumatic brain injury in both children and adults. This will include conducting clinical interviews, symptom-based assessments, neuropsychological data collection, collecting MRI data, data entry and quality assurance. Data analyses will also be a primary focus of the applicant. The second primary duty includes working with a research team on a national project to understand brain growth and development in infants. Primary duties include participant recruiting, data collection (MRI and EEG) and data entry. Individuals with a background and experience in working directly with infants is therefore strongly preferred. The job will also require flexible hours including some evenings and nights to accommodate data acquisition and other related duties as needed for scanning infants and children (approximately 2-3 per week). As this position involves working as part of a research team, as well as working with sensitive populations, applicants should have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
