The people of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) are united by a singular mission: ending cancer for life. Our specialized care teams provide personalized, compassionate, expert care to patients of all ages. Informed by basic research done at our Sloan Kettering Institute, scientists across MSK collaborate to conduct innovative translational and clinical research that is driving a revolution in our understanding of cancer as a disease and improving the ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat it. MSK is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, who go on to pursue our mission at MSK and around the globe.
The Department of Radiation Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York is seeking applicants for two Brachytherapy Fellowship program positions for the 2025-2026. The fellowship is a 1-year program which is a non-ACGME accredited brachytherapy radiation fellowship.
MSKCC Brachytherapy Fellowship Training Program aims to provide fellows with one of the most comprehensive training programs in the world in the application of brachytherapy for GU, GYN, GI, skin, and other cancers. These goals are achieved through direct hand on procedural training, clinical experience, and research activities. The MSKCC brachytherapy service has continued to grow exponentially with an active brachytherapy suite with intraoperative US, CT and MR treatment planning capability and a dedicated brachytherapy medical physics team. In addition, two shielded operating rooms allow for delivery of intraoperative radiation therapy in coordination with multiple surgical services.
The duration of the fellowship is one year. During the fellowship year, the fellow will develop both practical hands-on technical experience in performing a variety of brachytherapy procedures and expertise in the clinical management of perioperative care. In addition, fellows will have the opportunity to interact and collaborate with our multidisciplinary experts in medical and surgical oncology. Formal practical and didactic training are also an integral part of the experience provided. After successful completion of the fellowship, the fellow will have the tools to function as a consultant with clinical and technical expertise in the management of tumors with Brachytherapy.
Under directed mentorship, the fellow will be able to devote up to 30% of his/her time to research. Fellows will meet regularly with mentors to oversee progress which will ultimately culminate in presentation at society meeting(s) and/or peer-reviewed publication(s). Structured training opportunities will be provided in clinical trial development, research conduct, and grant-writing amongst others.
The fellowship applicant must meet the following requirements:
