Description of Work Unit
Provide quality services in order to maintain the campus buildings mechanical and HVAC&R systems for the benefit of the University. The goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment conducive to the educational and research requirements of Colorado State University.
Position Summary
Provide the physical mechanical support repair and maintenance of the University’s heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration systems, and specialty equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience Only:
Two (2) years of HVAC/R mechanical experience related to the work assigned to this position
OR
Education and Experience:
A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant HVAC/R mechanical experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to two (2) years

Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems
Duty/Responsibility
Operates, diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs various types of air conditioning and refrigeration systems and components. Performs preventative maintenance, diagnoses and repairs pumps, cooling towers, refrigerant and water piping, walk-in refrigerators, starters, coils, environmental chambers, ice machines, window AIC’s water coolers, and other various cooling equipment.

Troubleshoots, repair, modifies and operates electrical, pneumatic and electronic control systems to gas and hot water heating system, air conditioning and ventilation systems. Operates heating and ventilation equipment to include steam, hydronic and gas fired systems. Perform maintenance services to components such as: expansion tanks, pressure and temperature limiting devises, heat exchangers, valve, pilot assembles, motors gas burners, orifices, regulators, v-belts, sheaves, and other types of heating and ventilation components.

Inventory all water systems. This includes a list of all buildings with hydronic systems and associated chemical level data for each building. Document testing and enter into the FS Data Server. Determine appropriate actions if test does not meet standards. Inventory and ensure al glycol systems maintain a 30% glycol and all inhibitor levels on a quarterly or as needed basis. Document testing and enter into the FS Data Server.
