Our client, a heavy metal fabricator & turnkey industrial construction company, is seeking an Industrial Construction Project Manager to join their Turnkey Industrial Construction group. This position oversees the full lifecycle of construction and maintenance projects for industrial and commercial facilities. Your role involves managing every aspect of the project, ensuring high-quality delivery within scope, schedule, and budgetary constraints, while upholding safety and regulatory standards.
Overview of Responsibilities & Duties
• Project Management: Lead and manage all phases of construction projects, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closeout, ensuring successful and timely delivery.
• Contract Management: Thoroughly understand and manage customer contracts, ensuring all contractual obligations are met while addressing any out-of-scope work through formal change requests.
• Scope and Resource Management: Define and manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and resources. Efficiently allocate and optimize resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to achieve project goals.
• Technical Oversight: Analyze project plans, specifications, and technical requirements. Utilize Procore to manage RFIs, submittals, drawings, specifications, meetings, and change events, ensuring all technical aspects are addressed.
• Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the project team to develop, implement, and monitor project-specific Quality Control Plans (QCPs) and Inspection & Testing Plans (ITPs). Ensure that all work meets the highest standards of quality.
• Safety Management: Partner with the Safety Manager to develop and enforce comprehensive safety plans, including industrial safety protocols, rigging and lifting plans, and erection plans. Proactively assess and mitigate project risks.
• Team Coordination: Work closely with the Field Operations Manager to determine labor needs and qualifications, ensuring projects are staffed efficiently and safely.
• Procurement & Subcontracting: Coordinate with the purchasing team to issue subcontracts and purchase orders, ensuring all project-related procurement aligns with budgetary and schedule requirements.
• Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with all project stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project status, including schedule, cost, quality, safety, and any potential changes.
• Billing & Reporting: Submit bi-weekly billing in accordance with contract terms. Report directly to the VP of Construction, providing detailed insights on project status, including financials, customer relations, and overall progress.
• Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring satisfaction and exploring opportunities for additional business.
Overview of Desired Skills & Qualifications
• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience managing construction projects in the heavy industrial sector.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage projects independently, with strong decision-making capabilities.
• Communication & Organization: Excellent communication, organizational, and management skills, with a proven track record of effectively coordinating complex projects.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software (e.g., Procore).
• Licensing & Certification: A valid driver's license and OSHA 30 Certification (or the ability to obtain it within the first 30 days).
Physical Requirements & Working Environment
• Requires prolonged walking, standing, sitting, bending, squatting, stooping, climbing, regular lifting and carrying to move up to 50 lbs., talking, hearing, reaching, feeling, grasping and push/pulling.
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions/temperatures.
• Regular mental and visual attention much or all the time with manual coordination.
• General office environment conditions.
• Flexibility required to travel.
