Job Description

We are seeking a Finance Manager who combines strategic financial leadership with operational excellence. As a rapidly growing, mission-driven SaaS company in the AI sector backed by a major private investor, we need a leader who will drive financial success while supporting our rapid growth and innovation in the AI sector.

What You'll Do:

Financial Operations & Strategy

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with company growth plans.
  • Present financial results to the executive team and Board of Directors.
  • Track key financial metrics, including LTV, CAC, churn, ARR/MRR, and hardware margins.

Accounting & Compliance

  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate account reconciliations.
  • Oversee AP/AR, invoicing, and collections to ensure proper cash flow management.
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee sales tax, state/national filings, and coordinate with external accountants.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead the accounting team and collaborate with department heads on budgets.
  • Track spending and provide resource allocation recommendations.
  • Champion Open Book Management by sharing financial insights across the organization.

Billing & Revenue Recognition

  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition aligned with GAAP standards.
  • Manage customer invoicing, collections, and payment processing.

Systems & Tools Management

  • Manage QuickBooks, Bill.com and other financial software to optimize processes.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles in high-growth technology companies.
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Proven expertise in financial leadership for scaling companies, with demonstrated success in optimizing budgets and aligning spend with business objectives.
  • Excellence in financial modeling, forecasting, analysis and strategic planning.
  • Outstanding leadership, management skills, and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Superior communication skills and ability to present complex financial information clearly.
  • Experience with financial software and systems implementation.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic decision-making capabilities, with the ability to align financial strategy with long-term business goals.

Bonus Skills:

  • Investor Relations Expertise : Proven ability to prepare and deliver concise financial reports, forecasts, and spend updates to primary investors, fostering trust and alignment.
  • Open Book Management Acumen : Experience creating company-wide financial dashboards and training employees to understand and use key metrics for informed decision-making.
  • Budget Optimization Leadership : Experience in developing and enforcing budgets that support operational efficiency while aligning with company growth strategies.
  • Technology Sector Knowledge : Understanding of technology sector and scaling strategies for high-growth companies.

This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, CA

Salary Range in SFBA: $160k - $200k (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
