Job Summary:

The Communicable Disease Division (CDD) of the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) is seeking an Epic Applications Analyst to support Epic Systems Beaker Clinical Pathology (CP). The successful candidate will be responsible for architecting, configuring, testing, and implementing change to the Epic Systems Beaker system for the laboratory. They will provide end user application support and respond timely to inquiries and requests, with a strong focus on usability, process improvement, and system optimization for enhanced user experience. They will work independently as well as collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners inside and outside of the CDD. This position is on-site at 2601 Agriculture Dr, Madison, WI 53718. Work hours are 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Occasional after hours, weekend or holiday work may be required in support of urgent or emergent public health needs of the organization. Remote work may be considered at the discretion of the hiring manager.

About the Communicable Disease Division - Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene
The WSLH and CDD serve as the State of Wisconsin's laboratory for infectious disease testing, supporting the Wisconsin Division of Health Services through surveillance and outbreak response for any pathogen of public health significance. The CDD is a national and regional reference laboratory for many Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) programs, including but not limited to the detection of and surveillance for influenza, vaccine-preventable diseases, enteric disease pathogens, parasitic diseases and antimicrobial resistance.

This will be a 18-month fixed-term appointment.

Responsibilities:

Assists with research and design of usable and accessible systems, services, and content to support user needs, meet project goals, and advance institutional priorities. Assists in training and outreach efforts to advance the institutional capacity for user-centered practices.
  • 5% Conducts research with users to understand context and needs, utilizing methods such as ethnographic/field research, interviews, usability testing, and surveys
  • 30% Analyzes and synthesizes research data and metrics to inform policy, service, content, and interaction design
  • 30% Assists in designing information architectures, user flows, service journeys, interfaces, prototypes, content, and services
  • 30% Assists in the design and execution of training, facilitation, and outreach materials, and researches and designs best practices to promote the use of user-centered, accessible practices at the institution
  • 5% Assists in advising various stakeholders on user-centered and accessible practices

Education:

Required
Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, clinical area/related field, or comparable industry experience

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Medical Laboratory Science or a laboratory focused Allied Health Profession, and/or Computer Science, Informatics, or comparable field preferred

Qualifications:

Required:
-Excellent verbal and written communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Preferred:
-Epic System Beaker AP/CP certifications
-CAHIMS or CPHIMS certification
-Other Epic Systems certifications, such as Order Transmittal, Bridges, Ambulatory, Prelude, Resolute, etc.
-Other Healthcare IT (ITSM, ITIL, clinical, financial/billing, etc.) experience
-3 or more years clinical or public health laboratory experience
-Project management experience
-3 or more years of direct experience configuring, building, and troubleshooting Epic Systems Beaker CP
-3 or more years of direct experience integrating laboratory instrumentation with Epic Systems Beaker CP

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 18 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Salary:

Minimum $80,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
