Authorities have evicted members of the self-styled “Kingdom of Kubala” from council-owned woodland near Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders.

The group of Zimbabwean-born Jean Gasho, who calls herself Queen Nandi, Ghanaian national Kofi Offeh (“King Atehene”), and American Kaura Taylor (“Asnat”) had claimed they were reclaiming land stolen from African ancestors 400 years ago.

The eviction was streamed on TikTok, showing police, sheriff officers, and immigration officials moving in early Thursday. Offeh and Taylor were arrested on suspected immigration offences, while Gasho left hidden in a pick-up truck.

Local authorities dismantled the camp shortly after, following a court order banning the group from occupying council land.

The “Kubala Kingdom” has a large online following of more than 100,000, but their presence had drawn complaints from local residents and businesses.
