A drone strike blamed on Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed at least 24 people, including eight children, when it hit a vehicle carrying displaced families near Rahad in North Kordofan, according to the Sudan Doctors Network.

The victims had fled fighting in the Dubeiker area, and among the dead were two infants.

The attack comes as fighting intensifies in the Kordofan region, with El-Obeid; an army-held city encircled by the RSF lying on a key supply route between Darfur and Khartoum.

UN Humanitarian Coordinator Denise Brown said she witnessed the aftermath, including burning aid trucks, and urged protection for civilians and humanitarian operations. Emergency Lawyers said the convoy was contracted by the World Food Programme and accused the RSF of responsibility. The RSF did not comment. The UN says more than 21 million Sudanese face acute food insecurity.
