Ghana’s Struggle with Enduring Government Corruption

Canada has joined the United States in condemning what lawmakers describe as a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria, as violence against Christian communities continues to draw global concern.
Speaking before the Canadian Parliament, Conservative MP Andrew Scheer called attention to what he described as systematic attacks by extremist groups, particularly Boko Haram, targeting Christian populations in northern and central Nigeria. He said the country is witnessing mass killings, widespread displacement, and the destruction of churches, warning that international silence is worsening the crisis.
Scheer noted that over 3.5 million Nigerians have been displaced and that three churches are destroyed daily, adding that 7,000 Christians have been killed this year alone. He lamented that many believers now worship in secret or in the ruins of burnt sanctuaries.
Criticizing global indifference, Scheer said, “The world is turning a blind eye. There are no embedded journalists, no daily updates, and no political accountability.” He urged international leaders to speak out, increase humanitarian support, and pressure authorities to protect vulnerable communities.
Scheer concluded by expressing solidarity with Nigerian Christians, calling on the global community to “shine a light on their suffering” and ensure that their plight is neither ignored nor forgotten.
