Kenya Will Be Visa-Free for Citizens of All Countries in 2024

Starting 2024, visitors from any country on the planet will no longer need to apply for a visa to travel to Kenya. Instead, anybody wishing to enter the African country will just need an electronic travel authorization that they can apply for online.

Kenyan President William Ruto himself made the announcement during a speech marking the 60th anniversary of the country’s independence from Britain last December 18.

“Beginning January 2024, Kenya will be a visa-free country,” Ruto said. “It shall no longer be necessary for any person, from any corner of the globe, to carry the burden of applying for a visa to come to Kenya.”

According to online reports, the new online travel authorization platform will include security checks and will be free of charge.

Philippine passport holders previously did not need to secure a visa to travel to Kenya. Visas are issued on arrival, provided travelers have a return ticket, a travel itinerary and hotel bookings while in the country.

Filipinos can also apply for an evisa. This allows for quicker entry into the country.

Kenya is known for its game reserves where travelers can go on safaris, as well as beach destinations along the coast of the Indian Ocean.
