A 39-year-old woman from Springs has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the premeditated murder of her boyfriend, whom she stabbed to death after deliberately getting him intoxicated.

Nonsumbuluko Majola was convicted in the Springs Magistrate’s Court for the murder of Mojalefa Sefali, also 39. The court heard that Majola and a male accomplice went to Sefali’s home on 13 June 2024, where the three consumed alcohol together.

According to National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana, once Sefali was intoxicated, Majola instructed her accomplice to restrain him. She then repeatedly stabbed him with scissors and a kitchen knife before the pair fled the scene, leaving him to bleed to death.

Concerned, community members later discovered Sefali’s body after noticing his absence.

Majola pleaded guilty in court, admitting that she acted out of jealousy after learning that Sefali was involved with another woman.
