Ghana to Establish Trade Office in China to Strengthen Bilateral Trade

Ghana plans to open a Trade Office in Nanjing, Shandong Province, in 2026 as part of efforts to deepen trade and investment relations with China, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has announced.

The move, alongside plans to sign a Zero-Tariff Agreement with China, is expected to enhance trade flows and create new opportunities for Ghanaian exporters.

The minister also highlighted the commencement of local currency trading between the two countries as a step toward strengthening Ghana’s economy.

Speaking during a farewell visit by outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Tong Defa, she commended his role in attracting Chinese investment, while the ambassador expressed confidence in increased Chinese investment and rising Ghanaian exports to China.
