China Alerts Its Nationals to Danger of Becoming Forced Laborers in Central African Republic

A Nigerian commentator has backed former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent call for stronger action against attacks on Christians in Nigeria, arguing that the country urgently needs foreign military assistance to tackle worsening insecurity.
The writer, who has testified in Washington on extremist violence, described years of federal inaction, including the government’s reluctance to seek help from allies such as the United States.
He recounted personal experiences sheltering victims of attacks and highlighted the continued targeting of churches and communities by Boko Haram and other armed groups in northern Nigeria.
Despite periodic military offensives, the author said insecurity has persisted, contributing to mass displacement, plummeting investor confidence, rising poverty, and limited opportunities for young Nigerians.
More than 7.8 million people have been displaced since Boko Haram began its insurgency 15 years ago, while kidnappings and attacks continue largely unabated.
He argued that Nigeria needs coordinated international support, combined with local involvement not a sovereignty-violating intervention or “guns-blazing” approach. A broader strategy, he said, must include intelligence-sharing with allies, improved domestic coordination, and major investments in education and youth empowerment to address root causes of extremism.
While welcoming Trump’s renewed attention to Nigeria’s security crisis, the writer expressed doubt that the current administration is capable of delivering the sustained reforms needed to restore stability and rebuild public trust.
