U.S. President Donald Trump said he is considering military options, including deploying ground troops or launching air strikes to stop what he described as the mass killing of Christians in Nigeria.

Speaking to reporters while returning from Florida, Trump warned the U.S. could suspend all aid and even “go into that country ‘guns-a-blazing’” if the violence continues.

His comments followed the U.S. government’s decision to designate Nigeria a “country of particular concern” for religious-freedom violations. Trump posted similar threats on social media, instructing authorities to prepare for possible action and promising any strike would be “fast, vicious, and sweet.”

A Nigerian presidential spokesman has said President Bola Tinubu may meet with Trump to discuss the allegations. The president’s warning and the potential meeting have provoked strong reactions at home and abroad, raising questions about U.S. intervention, the future of bilateral aid, and diplomatic fallout.
