Kenya Demands Safety for Citizens Amid Tanzania’s Post-Election Crackdown

The African Development Bank Group has approved a $500,000 grant from its Special Relief Fund to support Uganda’s emergency response to recent floods and landslides in Bulambuli, Kasese, and Ntoroko districts.
The funding will provide family-size tents and other urgent assistance to about 1,500 displaced people, helping improve living conditions in temporary camps.
Heavy rains in August triggered floods and landslides that killed five people, injured 50, and damaged or destroyed around 2,000 homes, displacing over 5,000 residents.
The project, to be implemented by Uganda’s Office of the Prime Minister, will prioritize rapid procurement, local supplier engagement, and efficient delivery within six months.
AfDB says the support goes beyond immediate relief, aiming to restore dignity, safety, and resilience while contributing to local economic recovery.
